I will start with the good. It was a good day off this sunday. I got to spend some good quality time with my cade. We just had a nice relaxing day...at first. Usually every sunday we'll go for a walk or to the park and take nixy our puppers. Lately I've been working on teaching her some swimming skills. So we went to this lake fountain thing just at one of the campuses close to our apartments. She loves water...
Cade also saved a life...which you will just have to wait until my next post to find out about. I know, suspense is a killa.
We got ourselves some slurpies

...and we like to take pictures of ourselves :)
Although our sundays are mostly always amazingly relaxing and chill
our most recent sunday ended very sadly...
our puppy that we got a couple months ago, whom we love very mucho broke her leg!
she loves to play tug-a-war with cade and she was jumping up for the rope, over shot it but tried to turn in the air to still grab it but missed and landed all screwy and broke her leg! It was very very horrible. She yelped so loud and for so long, all of our neighbors came out and probably thought we were murdering her. :( so sad.
we rushed her to the doggie emergency hospital and they said it was the worst break they had seen. Her foot was twisted all the way around backwards. Since she would need surgery they just straightened her out, splinted and casted her up. They gave her a sweet lightening bolt on her cast to make her look cool even though she has a gimp cast on.
when we got her home she still had some of the anesthetic in her and she had a big smile on her face...at least she wasn't in pain.
we took her in for surgery today. It turns out that the break was right on a growth plate. The doc says that she has hit her most dramatic growth spurt so if her growth plate decided to prematurely stop producing growth hormones (or whatever it does) if her leg stopped growing it shouldn't be too big of a length difference in her two back legs. She has to get a bunch of pins in her leg just like I have, so I can definitely sympathize! We will be twinner cripples! She'll have to keep the pins in for about a month then we'll get them taken out and have to do so physical therapy so that she can still run fast as lightning. While she's broken I'm thinking of investing in a sweet wagon to tote her around in...
I found this while looking for a suitable wagon for nixy...i don't know where we'd put this but it'd be also cool to have.
So far the only wagon I have found in an actual store was walmart and it was $98! hmmm, don't know about that one. I suppose I could always yoink an unsuspecting cart from a parking lot in the dark of night and use that for nix
if I took enough I could try this out...
well that's all for now. I'll update you on status nixon when we get her back from the doc! Have a good night everybody!
You guys are so nice!! I showed Ryan this post and he said if our Dog Jack ever injured himself we would probably just put him down! Sad...glad all is well with Nixon Puppy. Good Mommy Tosha. :)
ReplyDeleteha ha...i'm WAY too big of a softy to put our puppers down. the damage would have to be seriously bad for me to even consider it. Plus, I gotta practice for my kids in the future, right! :)
ReplyDeleteYour poor puppy. :( Love the wagon idea. I can just see you now... :)
ReplyDeleteSo does this mean that you're practicing the limits of teasing (ie, how high can they jump before they fall backwards and ....)on your sweet puppy for the future benefit of your children - (ie, our beloved grand nephews and nieces)? Even so, you'll be great parents with wonderfully happy children who will always be full of laughter! We look forward to those future posts!
ReplyDeleteaww poor pup!
